THE MARY COOKSON FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY MEMORIAL PROJECT
The Lord's Lighthouse Ministry has been in the business of providing emergency food to poor families in south Hillsborough County, in Florida, We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization assisting needy families in meeting their physical and spiritual needs since 2008. We have been distributing weekly food baskets for over 200 families living on the edge of poverty. For several years, funding for our feeding program was provided mainly by some mission supporters and two local foundations in our area.
Unfortunately, the two grants have now been awarded to other non-profit programs and some of our faithful supporters are now in Heaven.
One of our most faithful contributors was a generous lady by the name of Mary Cookson. Mary was not a wealthy person, but she loved all worthy causes and saw them as opportunities to share from the bounty of a thankful heart. She was just an example of the humane quality of our few, but generous contributors.
Mary was called home by God, her Heavenly Father, not that long ago. Her relatives, friends and church people certainly miss such a special person, but we are reminded in the Bible that: "Blessed are those who die in the Lord. They rest from their labors, and their works follow them." (Revelation 14:13 NKJV)
With the encouragement and blessing of Bob Cookson, Mary's son, and others, we hope to keep the memory and example of such an outstanding human being that cared so much for others. Therefore, with your help, we would like to establish "THE MARY COOKSON FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY MEMORIAL". This bank account would receive, and thankfully acknowledge, designated contributions earmarked to assist area families living on the edge of poverty in meeting their immediate urgent needs, mostly food. We target primarily families with babies and school-age children.
All donations are tax-deductible.
